Recommended Resources

Be The Difference’s breadth and depth of work is frequently informed by a collection of high quality resources, bringing the latest philanthropy and ecosystem’s thinking to life. We want to share a selection of our ‘go-to’ resources, so that you can leverage them too.*

  • Stanford Social Innovation Review - The strapline ‘informing and inspiring leaders of social change’ says it all. Helpful and thought provoking on all aspects of ecosytem building. Note that this has a distinctive US/international flavour, but many of the insights are useful as they are generic. It’s worth taking a look at their magazine, including the back copies. Publisher of SSIR, Stanford PACS (Center on Philanthropy & Civil Society) website is also a good stop off for those wanting to dip into the less explored corners of the philanthropy space.

  • Alliance is for philanthropy and social investment worldwide. Take a look at their blog for shorter opinion pieces and news. Their magazine is excellent and subscription-only.

  • New Philanthropy Capital describes itself as: “the think tank and consultancy for the charity sector. We help charities, foundations, philanthropists, impact investors, social enterprises, corporates, and the public sector to maximise social impact in the lives of the people they serve”. They continually produce a stream of high quality, well-researched reports and thought leadership pieces, with a global/UK focus. Check out their resources section and keep a regular eye on their blog. They’re particularly strong on Covid-19 impact-related themes and thinking.

  • The Beacon Collaborative is the voice for philanthropists, a movement to encourage more private assets to be used for private good. They regularly produce research reports whose findings reflect the current state of play in the world of philanthropy with clear recommendations for how to move forward. Take a look at their research section.
